The Genesee Parks Region is comprised of five large and seven small state parks including the Genesee Valley Greenway Trail. The crown jewel of the region is Letchworth State Park, known as the “Grand Canyon of the East.” Letchworth is a 17-mile stretch of land where the Genesee River roars through scenic gorges and three major waterfalls and cliffs as high as 600 feet surrounded by lush forests. Activities in the park include several hiking trails, hundreds of campsites and cabins, history, performing arts and special events programs, guided walks, whitewater rafting, kayaking and hot-air ballooning and is home to the Glen Iris Inn, Mr. Letchworth’s former home and today a full service Inn and Restaurant. Letchworth State Park was recently named best state park in the nation and favorite New York attraction by readers of USA Today.
