WYOMING COUNTY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND THE ARCADE AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE TO HOST RIBBON CUTTING FOR MYSTIC POTS IN ARCADE

The Wyoming County Chamber & Tourism office with the Arcade Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a ribbon cutting for Mystic Pots, located at 284 Main Street, in Arcade, to celebrate the grand opening on Friday, April 7, 2023, at 3:00 PM. 

Mystic Pots is owned and operated by Layna Mattson. She has a Bachelor’s degree in ceramic design from Buffalo State College, and always dreamed of opening her own ceramics studio. Layna’s dream became a reality with the opening of Mystic Pots. 

“The environment is very casual and geared toward expanding our creative expression and expertise in the medium of clay,” said Layna Mattson. “A community is beginning to form of members, which is my goal to be surrounded by creative people and bounce our ideas off of each other. Opening my passion project to the public allows the community access to a craft that is often out of reach since the equipment is expensive and the medium takes some professional instruction to understand.” 

The Mystic Pots studio is fully equipped to create any ceramic ideas that a visitor might have. They have three electric wheels, one kick wheel, a slab roller, a large kiln that fires frequently, and all the tools and glazes one might need. Various degrees of participation are accommodated from the casual creative to lifestyle ceramicists. Participants can spend a few hours making a mug as a beginner, or get a membership that allows the use of the space every day and all the tools. Mystic Pots currently offers wheel throwing classes, sculpture classes and general community clay and firing access, and more. They are open 12:00 PM – 7:00 PM Wednesday through Sunday.
