New York State Parks Legacy Celebration in Letchworth State Park

NYS Parks and Historic sites is celebrating its 100th birthday! Throughout the year many of the State Parks in and around the Letchworth Region will have different celebrations to commemorate this celebration.

This event begins at the south end of the park by the falls, and then a big celebration at the Highbanks Rec Area (by the pool, park police and new playground).

At Highbanks, there will be vendors, organizations, family friend activities, food, fireworks & more. The schedule of events are:

  • 8-10AM - The day starts with a delectable breakfast at the Glen Iris Inn with William Pryor Letchworth and Caroline Bishop. Reserve your spot by calling (585)493-2622.
  • 11-11:45AM - Flag raising and remembrance ceremony will take place at the Lower Falls Civilian Conservation Corps statue.
  • 1-2:15pm - After a brief lunch/sightseeing pause, a Nunda historical society member and good friend of the park, Tom Cook, will describe everyday life and challenges faced by the Civilian Conservation Corps at the Humphrey Nature Center. Historical artifacts from the 1933 to 1941 era of the CCC will be on display.
  • 3-7pm - Special activities in the Highbanks Recreation Area including face painting, balloon artists, hot air balloon tethering & food vendors.
  • 5:30-7PM - Performances by area theater troupe Shake on the Lake.
  • 7:30-9:30PM - Live music by Nik and the Nice Guys.
  • 9:30-10PM - Fireworks

Most programs are free, the breakfast buffet at the Glen Iris Inn is $20 per person. Entrance fees apply between 9am and 5pm.
