The Town of Sheldon, formed in 1808, is an agricultural community consisting mostly of dairy farms. In 2009, the Town welcomed the addition of the High Sheldon Wind Farm, consisting of 75 wind turbines. Because of this addition, the Town had has a 0% tax rate since 2009.
