Director Of Environmental Services, Safety, Security & Emergency Preparedness

HOURS: Primarily Day Shift- Full Time        

SALARY: $102,000 per year -Schedule C 

LOCATION: Wyoming County Community Health System- 400 North Main Street, Warsaw, New York 14569 

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:  The Director of Environmental Services, Safety, Security & Emergency Preparedness provides leadership and oversight for Environmental Services (EVS), organizational safety, security, and emergency preparedness programs. The Director is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, secure, and regulatory-compliant environment for patients, residents, staff, and visitors while providing leadership and direction to assigned staff and programs. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 
1. Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate's degree and two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in healthcare operations, environmental services, safety, security, emergency preparedness, facilities, project management, or a related field, one (1) year of which included supervisory, leadership, or program coordination responsibilities; OR
2. Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in healthcare operations, environmental services, safety, security, emergency preparedness, facilities, project management, or a related field, one (1) year of which included supervisory, leadership, or program coordination responsibilities. 

REQUIRED TRAINING WITHIN ONE YEAR OF APPOINTMENT OR AS SOON AS OFFERED

EVS REQUIRED EDUCATION / TRAINING FOLLOWING APPOINTMENT 

  • Healthcare Environmental Services education covering cleaning and disinfection, infection prevention, isolation precautions, blood and body fluid cleanup, PPE, chemical safety, waste handling, linen/textile management, and environment-of-care/regulatory requirements. 
  •  Applicable OSHA training, including Hazard Communication and Bloodborne Pathogens, based on assigned responsibilities. 
  • RCRA hazardous waste generator training appropriate to the organization's generator status and the Director's assigned waste management responsibilities. 
  • Applicable DOT Hazardous Materials training for personnel responsible for preparing, reviewing, offering, and/or signing hazardous waste manifests. 
  • EPA RCRAInfo/e-Manifest registration and training, as applicable to assigned responsibilities. 
  • Required refresher or recurrent hazardous waste, DOT, OSHA, and other regulatory training as applicable. 
  • CHESP (Certified Health Care Environmental Services Professional) certification preferred and expected to be pursued when eligibility requirements are met. 
  • AHE infection prevention education, such as Essentials of Infection Prevention and Environmental Hygiene or CMIP, is strongly encouraged. 
  • EVS Train-the-Trainer education, such as T-CHEST, is encouraged as appropriate to support staff competency and training.
