"Train the Trainer" Crowdfunding for Food and Farm Businesses
Wednesday, May 25, 2022 (4:00 PM - 5:30 PM) (EDT)
Description
Do you support farmers or food business entrepreneurs in growing their business and securing capital? Investment crowdfunding may be the perfect tool to add to your toolbox of resources. Even if you are not farm or food related, you may be interested in how Crowdfunding works and how it could benefit your constituents.
FoodFuture WNY is building a platform in Western New York where businesses can share their investment crowdfunding campaigns (see our current offerings).
The average investment crowdfunding business in the United States has raised nearly $300,000. And the most successful businesses have been those run by women or BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and people of color) CEOs.
This event is primarily designed for economic development specialists and those who assist farms and businesses with development. The team with Food Future WNY can answer your questions and help you help your clients start a campaign. They will be joined by presenter Michael Shuman from SCALE (Sequestering Carbon. Accelerating Local Economies) to share the basics of this grassroots tool of finance.
Among the topics that will be discussed you will learn:
- How can a business prepare itself to be successful at investment crowdfunding?
- What crowdfunding portals are best?
- What’s the right amount to crowdfund?
- How can a business get started
This "Train the Trainer" Crowdfunding for Food and Farm Businesses seminar is hosted by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Wyoming County, the Wyoming County Chamber of Commerce and the Wyoming County IDA in collaboration with the WNY Regional Food System Initiative.
If you are attending virtually, you will receive Zoom login information within 3-5 days of the event on May 25, 2022.
